Good evening, aviation weather wonks (and I use that term most lovingly),
On September 30, 2025, the terms of four (4) FPAW Steering Committee (SC) members will end. Combined with the two FPAW SC members who had to withdraw in term, that means there will be SIX (6) openings available on the FPAW SC: two (2) representing the Regulators constituency, two (2) representing the Users constituency, one (1) representing the Providers constituency and one (1) representing the RED/Academia constituency.
So far, we have had three new (not currently on the FPAW SC) folks, one (1) representing Users and two (2) representing RED/Academia, say that they'd like to be considered for selection. That means that we're still looking for at least two (2) Regulators reps, one (1) more Users rep, and one (1) Providers rep to throw their names in the hat (or is it hats in the ring?).
If you have found FPAW to be the stimulating, energizing Aviation Weather organization that I think it is, and would like to help guide it toward whatever place it needs to be in the near future, then I would STRONGLY encourage you to submit your name to be considered for a three-year term on the FPAW SC starting on October 1, 2025.
OK, now that you're really jazzed up and want to know how to do it, here's the answer. It's easy.
Send an email to me (mfronzak@mitre.org) and my esteemed colleague, friend and FPAW Co-Chair Matthias Steiner (msteiner@ucar.edu) by August 31, 2025. Tell us you want to be added to the upcoming FPAW SC ballot, identify the constituency you feel qualified to represent, and attach a C/V. That's it. You can do that in your sleep.
I look forward to seeing my Inbox flooded with expressions of FPAW SC interest!
Matt Fronzak
FPAW Co-Chair
P.S. I have just updated the high-level agenda for the Fall 2025 FPAW Meeting. I know I'm biased, but this is going to be a BANGER (I think that's a British phrase) of a meeting, one you will want to attend IN-PERSON if at all possible. So, don't wait, don't hesitate, go to https://fpaw.aero/events/2025/fpaw-2025-fall-meeting, take a peek at the updated agenda and register!
