Good evening, fellow aviation weather enthusiasts.
We know it's been several months since we've updated you on what's going on in the world of aviation weather and FPAW. So, without further ado, let's break that silence and let you know what's happening!
- The Fall 2025 FPAW Meeting is shaping up to be, dare we say, a real barn-burner, can't-afford-to-miss event. Why, you ask?
* It's going to be held at Campbell Scientific in gorgeous, mountainous Logan, UT where, in early October, it could be either perfect hiking season OR perfect skiing season. Somebody make a fearless long-range forecast!
* It's going to be focused on topics related to our location (hint - Campbell makes weather sensing/observation instruments).
* It should include some interesting and necessary conversations about long-held aviation weather standards (METARs, anyone?).
* There may be a long-distance (maybe halfway across the world?) presenter sharing their knowledge with us.
* And how about, just to spice things up, some rip-roaring FPAW organizational changes.
- Speaking of FPAW organizational changes in general, and the FPAW Steering Committee (SC) in particular, we recently lost one FPAW SC member in-term (Marilyn Pearson, representing the Regulators constituency), have another whose external obligations are likely to result in another in-term resignation in the very near future, and will have four members whose terms expire at the end of September. We don't know how to say this any more plainly: if you've ever thought about throwing your name in the FPAW Steering Committee hat, NOW IS THE TIME! There could be as many as SIX (6) available opportunities for folks who are passionate about aviation weather to join and help guide the BEST aviation weather industry group in the world.
We expect to have a high-level agenda for the Fall 2025 FPAW Meeting posted by the end of this week on the meeting web page, where detailed logistics information is already posted. We will send out a reminder when the draft agenda goes live.
Stay tuned!
