Good morning to all my friends and partners in aviation weather.
346!
Yes, that was the final number of registrants for the Fall 2026 FPAW Meeting. 346! Think about that.
346 people intended to find or make the time to listen and contribute to simply fascinating conversations and discussions about aviation weather in general, and weather impacts and information in the lower atmosphere in particular. And while I don't have the final numbers quite yet, I think that when I do they will show that 300 or more unique individuals (and, boy, are you all unique!) took part in our just-concluded meeting, either in-person or remotely. Thank you.
Try as I might to start this post-meeting message last week or this past weekend, I needed some time to come down from my bi-annual FPAW Meeting high and decompress a bit. That decompression period was a somewhat longer than expected due to both personal obligations and current events. Now that all are behind me, I think I can refocus on the tasks at hand, i.e.,
- Make the Fall 2026 FPAW Meeting recordings and presentations available on the meeting web site.
- Compile and relay meeting information enabling WINGS credit to be awarded to those Fall 2026 FPAW Meeting remote attendees seeking it.
- Create and transmit the list of all Fall 2026 FPAW Meeting registrants who indicated they were will to share their email information.
- Begin planning the Spring 2027 FPAW Meeting, taking place at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, FL from TUE, March 30, 2027 through THU, April 1, 2027 (and that's no joke, a quip I am likely to flat wear out between now and then).
So, if you want to keep up with the above activities, bookmark both the Fall 2026 FPAW Meeting web site and, once it is set up, the Spring 2027 FPAW Meeting web site (and, have no fear, you will know when that setup happens). Failing that, stay tuned for additional post-meeting FPAW Newsletter updates showing up in your inboxes in the coming days.
